[January 11; 02:06am]
I just love a close Quidditch match, even when the Falcons win. Generally means I'm kept busy - or at least entertained - for a good portion of the day.

Now, I don't know about you lot, but I think that Utopia might just be my favourite shoppe on the Lane. I saw a load of people protesting there the other day, and I meant to say something before, but I suppose now is as good a time as any. I fully trust that the owners have found a way to keep the underage wizards amongst us out of the shoppe and in response to these bloody protesters, I plan to buy myself a thing or two (or three... or four?) tomorrow. I don't care what you have to say about it; let me have the choice to walk into a sex shoppe, you bastards.

One of these days, I'll write up some resolutions. I keep saying that and never do it. Maybe that should be my resolution?

Right then, I think I'm keeping Spike waiting. Don't ask.

I was thinking this morning (a rare thing, I know) about Christmas and Hanukkah (because I know we don't all celebrate Christmas) and all the other holidays at this time of year, and I've noticed a lot of people moaning about things happening here on the street, people moaning in shoppes about how they absolutely must have a certain item for Christmas and yelling at the employees because it's not there right then and they really don't want to have to make another trip (I always wonder why they couldn't be bothered to call ahead of time?), people moaning about how busy it is (isn't it always? why are you surprised?), people moaning about the weather, about how much money they "have" to spend on gifts, about this or that and it's not striking me as very cheery. Where is your holiday spirit? Why is it that this time of year always brings out the worst in so many people? Isn't this a time to be thankful for what we have, to give because we want to and because it feels nice to see your friend excited about the gift you gave them and not because we feel obligated to? To try to make this world a better place in some way, whether that be by helping out a little old lady on the street who's carrying way too many bags, or by donating to charity, or by just simply being gracious and kind to one another and not yelling at the shoppe keepers? There's too much complaining.

Anyway, hopefully maids a-milking isn't going to upset as many people as those drummers or pipers did, because oh boy, if I have to overhear one more person moaning about it, I might just forget everything I just wrote right now.

Shit, now I'm doing it too.

Question for everyone. What is it that you want most for Christmas (or Hanukkah or whatever) this year? Forget about the expense, doesn't matter if it's not something you can buy in a store. Could be anything, I don't care. I've started polling people on the streets. One lady said she wants her engagement ring already, because she knows her boyfriend was putting it off until he got more money, but he got an extra check this month, so. Another lady just wanted to watch her favourite movie while her husband was giving her a full body massage.

Me? I want to get la I think I want a massage too. Or some Louboutins. I could kill for some of those. And I want my best buddy Demelza to find some incredible woman in the new year to date. It's about damn time.

Quidditch weekends are always so busy that I never know what's going on here until after, or until my mum owls me in a fit because she thinks that the stupid mark the other day meant someone was actually hurt and was worried - understandably so, but I wasn't even here and she knows it. So someone get me all caught up here: someone cast a Dark Mark over the sky for laughs or as a threat or what? How uncreative.

I do love Mondays, however.

Oh hell.

Marcus Flint, you are not my future spouse. That marigold lady was clearly mistaken when she said that I would dream of my future spouse if I put her stupid bloody flower on my night stand. I would never.

Goodness! Simply terrible news in the Prophet this morning. I'm sick of death.

Megan Jones here, mediwitch extraordinaire. I'm finally all unpacked and finished decorating. 224 1D, come visit! I think I might get a cat.

My dad's been moping about back home (or so I've been told) because he misses me. How sweet. I should consider myself lucky that he let me leave at all, especially so close to the five-year anniversary of Mum's death. The memorial service the other week was nice enough, though I wish he hadn't forced me to go. Mum would have hated every second.

Oliver Wood! Do let me know if you or your team have any other medical emergency - or even non-emergency.

We've got stars directing our fate and we're praying it's not too late . . . )
